At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30, members of the Yonkers Police Department’s Gang Unit and federal agents cordoned off an area of Roberts Avenue as they served a federal warrant.

The operation included members of the FBI, Westchester County Police, and the Yonkers Police Department Major Case Squad and Gang Units.

It is unclear what the warrant was regarding. Several suspects were reportedly taken into custody in the area of 326 Roberts Ave. on Wednesday morning.

“Due to the nature of the operation, a large number of officers were on scene to ensure the safety of all involved, including the residents in the area,” the department said in a statement.

“There is no current threat to the public. The roadway was temporarily closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, but has since been reopened.”

Police said that the investigation is ongoing. More information is expected to be released as it becomes available. Check Daily Voice for updates.
